OVERVIEW

With a concentration in complex litigation, Mercedes Logan describes herself as a quick study. She thrives in the product liability arena by being able to dive into a case, know the right questions to ask and efficiently understand the issues at play, so as to best defend her clients’ businesses and business interests.

Mercedes is a litigator who represents clients in toxic tort, product liability, premises liability and construction law matters, as well as a range of commercial disputes. This defense work allows her to be able to talk the talk, not just walk the walk because she is captivated by the science and processes behind the work her clients are doing.

Mercedes has experience in virtually all stages of litigation. She performs legal research, prepares clients for depositions, and conducts and defends depositions of parties and experts, including industrial hygienists, pulmonology experts, and treating physicians. She also drafts responsive pleadings and dispositive motions, performs fact and expert discovery, and assists at trial.

In particular, while with her prior firm, Mercedes gained significant experience defending the world’s largest flavoring manufacturer in more than 65 product liability cases nationwide. That work helped Mercedes enhance her project management skills in keeping track of a multitude of complex cases and related deadlines.

During law school, she interned with Magistrate Jeff Manske of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas and Judge Martin Hoffman of the 68th Judicial District Court, Dallas County, Texas.

Prior to law school, Mercedes interned with U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Maternal-Infant Centers of Excellence in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where she worked on a USAID project documenting mother and infant mortality rates during childbirth by producing video and written materials. She conducted interviews with hospital personnel and patients and translated materials into Spanish.

Mercedes is not regularly admitted to practice in the local courts of Indiana.
