Matthew Agnew advises healthcare companies on legal issues pertaining to business transactions and regulatory compliance, and defends healthcare companies in government investigations and commercial litigation. Matthew focuses on providing healthcare clients with practical, business-oriented solutions designed to comply with the law while leaving room for business growth.
Matthew counsels clients in a variety of areas of healthcare law. His experience includes advising on general regulatory compliance, Office of Inspector General and Department of Justice investigations, Stark Law, state and federal anti-kickback statutes, False Claims Act investigations, audits, and HIPAA.
He also guides clients through payer-provider billing disputes and reimbursement and overpayment issues, as well as merger, acquisition and joint venture transactions.
Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Matthew worked for one of the largest healthcare law firms in the United States, where he represented clients throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe.
He has represented hospitals, pharmacies, durable medical equipment suppliers, laboratories, physicians and other healthcare providers in fraud and abuse compliance matters, government and third-party investigations, payments issues and healthcare business transactions.
