Linda K. McGirr is a paralegal in Barnes & Thornburg's Indianapolis office. She is a member of the firm's Litigation Department.
Before joining Barnes & Thornburg in 1997, Linda was employed as a paralegal with a manufacturer specializing in the design, manufacture and installation of conveyor systems. Her primary responsibilities were that of a litigation liaison working with attorneys throughout the country to develop the defense of pending personal injury lawsuits.
During Linda's tenure with Barnes & Thornburg, her main areas of concentration have been complex litigation matters throughout the United States in the defense of product liability and toxic torts actions and other personal injury litigation. This includes extensive research to obtain a complete history of the plaintiffs through collection of employment, medical and insurance records, and any history of prior litigated matters. Upon obtaining the required records, Linda assists in the analysis of the documents to ascertain the impact on the current case for liability and damages. Additionally, she assists in determining documents responsive to discovery requests, locating and interviewing witnesses, locating and working with expert witnesses, deposition preparation and trial assistance. Finally, she assists in keeping the client informed on the case status through reports as requested by the client.
The Indianapolis Bar Association presented Linda with the 'Paralegal of the Year' award for 2001. Her pro bono activities have included working with the Heartland Pro Bono Commission, Julian Center, and the Protective Order Pro Bono Project.
