Kelsey represents employers of all sizes against claims of discrimination, retaliation, harassment and wage and hour violations. She defends employer interests in both federal and state court, as well as before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Illinois Department of Human Rights and the Illinois Department of Labor.
Her industry experience includes advising human resource and executive staff in such specialized markets as education, healthcare, retail, government and technology, to name only a few.
Kelsey is skilled in drafting and negotiating agreements involving personnel policies and handbooks, restrictive covenants, bonus and executive compensation, termination and discipline, and settlement terms and conditions. She counsels employers on decisions pertaining to hiring, discipline, termination, layoffs, leaves of absence, and trade secret and noncompete disputes. She has also partnered with executives and directors to develop and communicate effective compliance programs, policies and procedures in compliance with federal and state laws.
Notably, Kelsey is also experienced in representing employers against union grievances and unfair labor practice charges. In that capacity, she has conducted investigative employee and witness interviews, and prepared for and participated in arbitrations.
