Litigator Justine Farris-Niehaus is dedicated to defending employers both in and out of court. By listening carefully and communicating regularly, Justine helps clients and colleagues alike to solve the problem at hand and design a path forward that supports positive employee relations and reduces the risks associated with managing a workforce.
Justine represents employers facing employment litigation and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)-related issues. She regularly defends allegations of wrongful discharge, discrimination and harassment, wage and hour claims, and other employment litigation matters in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies.
In addition to serving as a passionate advocate, Justine believes in avoiding employment-related conflicts altogether in order to conserve the client’s bottom line and resources. As a result, Justine assists clients with pre-litigation counseling involving a variety of topics, including employee drug testing, harassment issues, employee handbook review, noncompete matters, and wage and hour investigations and audits.
Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg full-time, Justine served as a summer associate in the Indianapolis office. She also gained experience as a judicial extern to the Honorable Timothy Oakes, Marion County Superior Court.
Upon graduation from law school, Justine was a legal writing tutor to first-year students through the Dean's Tutorial Society.
