John T. 'Jerry' Mulvihill is retired of counsel in the South Bend, Indiana office of Barnes & Thornburg. Prior to retirement, his professional efforts were focused on litigation as a primary practice area, including accounting malpractice, product liability, breaches of contract, and motor vehicle negligence cases. John's representations were on behalf of plaintiffs as well as defendants.
John is a past president of the St. Joseph County Bar Association and he has been a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan. He also served at the behest of the Indiana Supreme Court on its Character and Fitness Review Committee.
John graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in 1953. Thereafter, he served in the United States Army in the Far East. Upon discharge, he assisted in the Grand Rapids, Michigan, operation of a family automobile dealership. In 1965 he graduated from Notre Dame Law School where he served on the Notre Dame Law Review. In 1966 he joined the law firm which later merged to become Barnes & Thornburg and was elevated to partnership in 1971, a position he held until his retirement.
