Jamal Abdulrasheed is driven, both personally and professionally, to make a difference. For his business clients, this means Jamal is willing to go the extra mile to help them achieve their goals and aspirations.
Jamal focuses his practice in area of corporate law. He assists clients, including startups, with mergers and acquisitions by reviewing, revising and managing legal due diligence reports, drafting memoranda on the legal standards for such transactions, and serving as a point of contact between clients and the due diligence team.
Before joining full-time, Jamal served as a summer associate and law clerk with the firm. His primary focus was working on a large merger, which was a collective effort of a group of corporate, litigation, environmental, and intellectual property attorneys. In connection, he researched and analyzed legal issues and drafted related documents. He also assisted in drafting memos and time-sensitive legal alerts on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018.
He also gained experience as a commercial and data privacy extern with Rolls-Royce North America, where he provided substantive input and work product to internal program team members and partnered with the data privacy officer to develop a presentation on GDPR for Rolls-Royce’s global legal team and the Indianapolis human resources department. Jamal also conducted research on commercial and employment law issues, participated in proposal development, and observed contract negotiations with foreign customers.
As an undergraduate, Jamal worked as a peer educator in the Indiana University Purdue University-Indianapolis (IUPUI) Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, researching and promoting multiculturalism and increased awareness of diversity-related issues. He was also a congressional intern in the local, district office for U.S. Congressman André D. Carson (IN-7) working in constituent services.
Outside of his practice, Jamal is very involved in the community, particularly with education and youth in the area, through the Indianapolis Freedom of School Partnership (IFSP) and GEO Academies. For GEO Academies, beyond his board membership, Jamal helped the organization by reviewing documents necessary to form this new entity in the state of Louisiana.
