Her practice includes patent prosecution in the technical areas of molecular biology, medical devices and medical diagnostics. When it comes to patents, Heidi is dedicated to linking innovation and business in order to fortify and safeguard her client’s intangible assets.
Heidi prepares and prosecutes patent applications in technologies such as RNA interference, recombinant nucleic acid and protein technologies, mutational analysis, antibody therapies, transgenic animals and plants, therapeutic vectors, stem cell therapies and gene therapy. With clients that are diverse and include large corporations, startups and fast-growth companies, as well as universities and other organizations, Heidi strives to understand each client’s goals and expectations, and tailors her work product to fit those needs.
Having prosecuted more than 1,000 patent applications in the U.S. and worldwide, Heidi offers honed negotiating skills with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) when advocating for the strongest protections possible for her clients. Her steadfast approach to problem-solving is about delivering patents that stand the test of time.
Throughout the patent development and prosecution process, Heidi is appreciated for her ability to streamline complex technological and legal matters into their essential components and present that information in a way that is understandable. Her ability to recognize and capture a high degree of technical detail aids her in identifying additional inventive embodiments for drafting and prosecuting patent applications that are clear and strong.
Prior to the law, Heidi served in research positions at Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the University of Michigan and Ohio State University. Working as a researcher allowed Heidi to cultivate the meticulous attention to detail she delivers today and the drive to finding answers and solutions for clients.
