Gina Wakeman works with the firm’s healthcare attorneys to provide quality legal representation and actionable solutions to a wide array of industry clients. As a dedicated paralegal, Gina understands, from first-hand experience, the unique challenges healthcare industry clients and their constituents face when serving the greater community.
Gina supports the firm’s healthcare attorneys by reviewing documents and assisting with the preparation of fair market value defensibility analysis and statistical analysis for physician financial arrangements, and project management and tracking.
This experience includes generating statistical scatter graphs that provide information as to whether or not a physician is in alignment with their cash compensation versus their work relative value units, known as RVUs (productivity). In addition, Gina reviews client information and conducts subject matter-specific research as needed.
Gina has served on legal teams that have supported healthcare industry clients such as hospitals, health systems, academic medical centers, and physicians. Notably, she has worked with attorneys and clients alike on a wide range of matters, a sampling of which includes fair market value defensibility analysis, expert testimony preparation and compliance effectiveness reviews.
In addition to her excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills, Gina is valued for her abilities as a multitasker and organizational know-how. Moreover, she is appreciated for her professional acumen when it comes to making the right decisions and for her “can do” attitude on behalf of the firm’s healthcare attorneys and clients alike.
Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Gina worked for another law firm and spent more than two decades working in government, six of which were spent as the executive assistant to the mayor of Elkhart, Indiana. While working for the mayor, Gina was responsible for managing the mayor's activities, coordinating numerous department meetings and assisting with the mayor's projects. She also had supervisory responsibilities at both the mayor's office and the Parks and Recreation Department.
