Rich Glaze and Charlie Denton moderated panels at the Georgia Brownfield Association’s 2021 Brownfield Seminar on June 22-23. This seminar provided quality education opportunities with a wide range of participants, including leading development, legal, engineering, risk management, economic development, and other professionals throughout Georgia and beyond.

On June 22, Charlie moderated a panel, “The Next Wave of Brownfields Opportunity and Responsibility: Working with Communities to Address Basic Needs and Safety While Leveraging Rural and Agriculture Resources,” which covered topics like exposome research, environmental sustainability, and U.S. Department of Agriculture rural and agricultural resources. The speakers included Suzi Ruhl, assistant clinical professor/senior research scientist at Yale School of Medicine; Gregory Dale, economic development specialist, Rural Development from the U.S. Department of Agriculture; and Erin Lebow-Skelley of the Emory University/HERCULES Exposome Research Center. On June 23 Rich moderated a panel, “Using Georgia’s Brownfields Program to Further Environmental Justice in Georgia.” The speakers included Brian Holtzclaw, chief, Environmental Justice and Children’s Health Section from U.S. EPA Region 4; April Lipscomb of the Southern Environmental Law Center; Gina K. Montgomery of J5 GBL, LLC; and Holly A. Hill and Kate E. Hopkins of Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders LLP.
