From the Frying Pan Into the Fire?

Gerald Lutkus

Gerald F. Lutkus

Of Counsel (Retired)

FireThe other shoe is about to drop on the deal that allowed Sen. Harry Reid to step away from his threat to take the “nuclear” option in Senate. The Huffington Post is reporting today that former Board member Richard Griffin, who according to some got thrown under the bus along with fellow board member Sharon Block as part of that deal, is expected to be nominated as the next General Counsel of the NLRB.

Lest we forget, Griffin was part of a solidly pro-Union majority on the Board with Block and Chairman Mark Gaston Pearce, but what else would we expect from a Board member who last served as general counsel for the International Union of Operating Engineers. If Griffin is indeed nominated for the post, there’s no word about where current Acting GC Lafe Solomon will land. Solomon was nominated more than two years ago for the General Counsel’s position on the Board but never had a confirmation vote.
