Ted McShane leverages his accounting background to assist clients and attorneys with unclaimed property and related needs. His goal as director of unclaimed property is to make a difference by taking a grounded approach to unclaimed property compliance. He aspires to help ensure a level unclaimed property playing field, in which rationality and transparency are pivotal.
Ted understands unclaimed property from both the holder and the state's perspective. He appreciates there are competing interests, but believes most unclaimed property issues can be resolved without needless strife. He assists clients navigating complex issues surrounding annual compliance, multistate examinations, and voluntary disclosure programs. Crucial is that he is keenly aware of the best practices for a voluntary disclosure agreement (VDA) review or an examination, and can craft creative and efficient solutions to complex unclaimed property problems.
