OVERVIEW

Having grown up with a parent who was an educator, then a principal and superintendent, Taylor Hunter truly understands her clients’ needs. Taylor offers her education and employment clients not only knowledgeable counsel and consistent communication– even attending to requests in the evenings and on weekends – but also a calming presence during stressful circumstances.

Focusing her employment law practice in the area of education law, with an emphasis on employment, student disability matters and contract negotiations, Taylor uses her problem-solving skills to advocate on behalf of superintendents, school boards and teachers for the betterment of those communities.

Taylor’s practice also covers virtually all areas of labor and employment law, including representing clients at all levels of proceedings pertaining to wrongful discharge, discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, Title VII, Title IX, ADA, ADEA, Section 1981, FMLA, FLSA, ERISA, USERRA, WARN and OSHA claims before federal and state courts, administrative agencies, and city and police boards.

She has represented clients in state and federal courts through various stages of litigation, from pre-litigation counseling to alternative dispute resolution. She has also represented clients before a variety of administrative agencies including the EEOC, Indiana Civil Rights Commission (ICRC), Indiana Employment Education Relations Board (IEERB) , Indiana department of Education, and the Fort Wayne Human Rights Commission.

Since joining Barnes & Thornburg, Taylor has assisted on monitorships and is a member of the team assisting the Special Compliance Coordinator appointed by the U.S. Department of Commerce to monitor, assess, and report on the U.S. export control compliance of Zhongxing Telecommunications Equipment Corporation, of Shenzhen, China, and ZTE Kangxun Telecommunications Ltd. of Hi-New Shenzhen, China (collectively, ZTE).
