Tate directly advises clients on trademark clearance, prosecution, portfolio management, enforcement, licensing, and online brand protection, helping clients protect and grow their brands across the full brand lifecycle while providing seamless access to broader legal support. His background also gives him unique insight into the agriculture and pharmaceutical industries.

Tate strives to be his clients’ go-to advisor whenever legal questions arise, delivering practical, responsive counsel that supports both immediate objectives and long-term growth. With a genuine passion for helping clients from beginning to end, he partners with them through each phase of their business journey—from initial concept and brand creation to expansion, protection, and enforcement—ensuring their intellectual property assets are strategically positioned for lasting success.

Prior to joining the firm full time, Tate worked as an intellectual property law clerk at Barnes & Thornburg for two years, where he developed significant experience in the prosecution of trademark registrations and enforcement of trademark rights in the U.S. and in foreign jurisdictions, international internet brand protection and licensing, and copyright law, including copyright eligibility, registration, ownership issues, licensing, and addressing copyright infringement. He also gained valuable experience as a legal extern for a pharmaceutical company, a home services organization, and an agriculture-focused foundation, which provided him with insight into the unique challenges faced by in-house counsel and business leaders.

Outside of Tate’s legal endeavors, he manages a large show pig business specializing in Tamworth swine. As a trademark enthusiast, Tate filed a registered trademark for his farm, Tams Can®.
