Soyoung researches recent laws and regulations that could affect stakeholders in the global supply chain, and she provides counsel on how to smartly adapt to those changes. She also provides guidance on trade and commerce matters regarding South Korean regulatory agencies.
She researches the U.S. government’s regulatory reform, particularly analyzing the impact of COVID-19 on global trade and the worldwide economy.
A native of South Korea, Soyoung comes to Barnes & Thornburg after serving as a director in the Prime Minister’s Office of South Korea. Before working in the Prime Minister’s office, Soyoung worked at the Korea Customs Service for a decade. There, she took part in several trade negotiations with the European Union, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), China, and Russia. She was also a skilled instructor of electronic clearance systems for customs officials of developing countries.
