OVERVIEW

Allison Scarlott’s wide-ranging practice spans from business and commercial litigation to bankruptcy and insolvency-related disputes. Whether representing plaintiffs, defendants, creditors or debtors, Allison’s energetic work ethic, focused analytical skills, and persuasive storytelling helps her achieve her client’s business goals.

Allison’s transactional and litigation practice has led her to represent a wide variety of clients, including higher education institutes, special servicers, unsecured creditors, and public companies. With this dual practice, she offers a unique perspective that helps her to recognize clients’ objectives at every step of the litigation process, from the initial filing to post-judgment collection. Her involvement in class action defense work, individual pro bono matters, and federal bankruptcies has further resulted in her focus on protecting creditors’ rights, business interests and contractual rights.

Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Allison gained legal experience as a summer associate with the firm, as well as through a judicial externship for the Honorable Mark S. Massa of the Indiana Supreme Court and as a legal intern with Cummins Inc. Through those roles, she drafted motions and memoranda; wrote civil and criminal transfers and memos from the bench; crafted cease and desist letters; and prepared merger and acquisition and other agreements connected to a range of practices.

During law school, Allison tutored first-year students as a Dean's Writing Fellow and was active in the Protective Order Project, which assists domestic violence and stalking victims with obtaining projective orders. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, she competed as a member of the women's varsity soccer team.
