Counsel
Michael Kersten focuses his practice on public finance and project finance. He serves as trusted counsel to underwriters, placement agents, investors, issuers and trustees, guiding clients through complex tax-exempt and taxable bond financings for a wide variety of projects.

Michael’s extensive experience includes representing lenders, investors, and borrowers in a broad spectrum of real estate matters, ranging from debt and equity transactions to sophisticated net lease financings and joint ventures for the acquisition, development, and financing of commercial properties.

During his tenure as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Maryland, Michael advised the Department of Housing and Community Development, where he managed legal aspects of its bond-financed and state-funded multifamily loan programs. His background in both the private and public sectors affords him a comprehensive perspective and approach to public finance and real estate.
