Matt Wilson is an intellectual property attorney with a technical background in mechanical engineering. His practice focuses on patent and trademark prosecution and related intellectual property matters.
With a background in mechanical engineering, Matt understands how to navigate the complexities involved with drafting and patent applications involving manufacturing technology, consumer hardware, automotive systems and simple electrical systems. He works with his clients to prepare and respond to Office Actions, conduct inventor interviews, and manage domestic and foreign patent portfolios.
Matt is also experienced with preparing patentability, infringement and freedom-to-operate analyses used to support business and product decisions. When advising clients, he has also collaborated with foreign counsel to prosecute both national stage and foreign applications. In his practice, Matt also works with his clients to prepare, file and prosecute trademark applications.
Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Matt worked as an IP associate for an Ohio-based IP boutique law firm. He gained experience across a diverse range of IP practice areas, including patents trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
