Mary's practice focuses on real estate and corporate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing of office, industrial and retail properties, financings, and joint venture formation and structuring. Mary frequently provides general counsel services to her clients, such as litigation monitoring and management, risk assessment and negotiation of commercial contracts, in addition to real estate and corporate transactional services.
Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Mary served for almost 10 years as vice president and general counsel of Castle & Cooke, Inc., where she was the chief legal officer to the company and its related entities. During this period, she served as primary transaction counsel on many of the material transactional matters involving the company and its related entities, including financings (real estate and other asset based secured loans), corporate and real estate acquisitions and dispositions; and leasing. She also provided legal services on major construction and entitlement matters and managed a variety of litigation matters.
Mary most recently was a partner at Gruenberg Garnett Harris LLP and previously was an associate at Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue and Kindel & Anderson.
Mary earned her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1987, where she was a member of the Hastings Constitutional Law Quarterly. She earned her B.A., cum laude, from Loyola Marymount University in 1984. Mary has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America for her work in corporate law.
She is a member of the California State Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
