Madison Diaz

Associate
Madison Diaz focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation, insurance recovery, securities litigation, gaming law, and investigations. She represents clients across a wide range of industries at every stage of litigation — from pre-suit strategy and internal investigations through motion practice, discovery, and trial preparation — and has significant experience handling complex commercial disputes, insurance coverage matters, and multi-state and international arbitration proceedings.

During law school, Madison externed for Hon. John Michael Vazquez of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and held internships with the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey, and the New York County District Attorney’s Office. Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, she was a litigation associate at a national law firm.

Madison maintains an active pro bono practice focused on expanding access to justice for underserved communities. She works with immigration organizations to assist unaccompanied minors seeking Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) and asylum seekers pursuing emergent relief, and has successfully petitioned for a writ of habeas corpus on behalf of an improperly detained non-resident. She has also collaborated with the Rutgers Innocence Project to screen potential wrongful conviction cases and with the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund to support low-income transgender youth petitioning courts for legal name changes.
