As both a skilled litigator and practical advisor, Koryn McHone’s practice is focused on representing management interests in employment litigation and administrative proceedings, and providing practical, proactive day-to-day counselling across emergent issues that arise in the workforce. In addition to successfully advocating for clients in administrative and judicial forums, she also regularly provides employment-related counseling to employers of all sizes and with varying employment needs, including guidance on day-to-day employment issues such as discipline and termination decisions, disability and medical leave considerations, internal investigation practices, and reductions-in-force/severance considerations.

With more than two decades of defense experience, Koryn is appreciated by clients and colleagues alike for her ability to quickly analyze issues as they arise in the workplace, provide effective solutions to resolving employment concerns, and engage in the necessary follow-up to support productive employment relationships.

Koryn regularly defends employers in employment matters at the local, state and federal levels. Her experience includes defense against claims of wrongful discharge, discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, breach of contract, wage and hour violations, and violation of employee medical leave rights, among others. In addition, Koryn also litigates claims under the federal False Claims Act. Her experience extends to administrative and judicial bodies in various states across the country.

Notably, Koryn routinely counsels employers on best employment practices and provides legal advice on the daily employment issues that pop up in the workplace. She is skilled in assisting employers with drafting personnel manuals and policies that will assist them in effectuating those practices, while reflecting up-to-date developments in employment law. She also provides assistance in navigating employee leave and disability issues, internal complaint resolution and termination/reduction-in-force activities.

Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Koryn served as an interim law clerk for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, Indianapolis Division. She also worked in private practice in Indianapolis, focusing her attention on employment and labor matters.
