Katherine's experience includes knowledge of federal and state fraud and abuse laws; hospital contracting with physicians and vendors; state charity care laws and hospital financial assistance policy review; the Common Rule and FDA regulations governing human subjects research; Medicare conditions of participation and Medicare/Medicaid enrollment issues; conducting regulatory internal investigations and compliance reviews; and submitting governmental self-disclosures on behalf of healthcare providers. Katherine also assists with healthcare mergers and acquisitions, working closely with clients throughout the full lifecycle of a transaction, specifically through regulatory diligence, licensure workstreams, and post-closing compliance.

Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Katherine was an associate at an international law firm. During law school, Katherine served as a judicial intern for Hon. Max O. Cogburn, Jr., of the US District Court for the Western District of North Carolina.
