Katherin graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law, where she served as an Articles Editor of the North Carolina Law Review. She also completed a judicial externship with Justice Trey Allen of the Supreme Court of North Carolina, where she examined questions of North Carolina law from an appellate court’s perspective. Her work on bench memoranda and petitions for discretionary review sharpened her ability to assess competing arguments, identify issues with significance beyond the immediate dispute, and consider how individual decisions shape the state’s jurisprudence. That perspective informs her approach to legal analysis and written advocacy.

Her background in philosophy and public administration includes successful completion of a master’s program focusing on nonprofit management. During her studies, she contributed research and writing to the UNC School of Government’s ncIMPACT Initiative and secured significant funding as a grant writer for A Bike for Every Child in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Katherin’s scholarly writing has examined will interpretation, including the relationship between survivorship language and antilapse statutes. Her pro bono interests include wills and basic estate planning.
