In addition to advising clients on the rapidly evolving legal, regulatory, and litigation risks associated with artificial intelligence, Kate’s AI practice focuses on helping companies cultivate pragmatic policies and practical strategies for AI adoption, deployment and governance, emphasizing the importance of such infrastructure for ensuring AI-related regulatory compliance, litigation readiness, and responsible implementation of emerging technologies.

As a nationally-recognized attorney author and speaker on AI and litigation issues, Kate regularly publishes and is invited to speak on cutting-edge developments involving AI, large-scale litigation, and ethics. She works closely with in-house counsel, C-suite teams, and executive leadership to help organizations anticipate and avoid legal risks and implement AI strategically, and navigate the rapidly changing domestic and international regulatory landscape.

Drawing on her extensive experience defending complex commercial and product liability litigation, Kate provides clients with practical guidance at the intersection of AI innovation and litigation, including issues involving discovery, privilege, evidentiary challenges, product liability, corporate governance, enterprise AI adoption, and how to leverage emerging technologies in the trial setting.  Through her leadership of the firm’s multidisciplinary AI initiatives, she helps clients translate complex technological and legal developments into practical business strategies. Kate also helps to lead Barnes & Thornburg’s AI Practice Champions, a group of nearly 40 attorneys across the firm designated to advance the practical use of AI within their practice group and help translate the firm's AI strategy into day-to-day client work.

Kate is known for pragmatically analyzing complex disputes, identifying innovative strategies, and developing effective game plans to defend client interests. A former Superior Court of New Jersey Appellate Division law clerk, Kate has a deep understanding of successful appellate strategies and procedures.

Kate also maintains an active pro bono practice in which she helps indigent clients in the areas of human trafficking and criminal expungement relief.
