Joshua Larsen concentrates his practice on complex civil litigation, with a particular emphasis on cases involving the infringement, validity, enforceability, and ownership of U.S. patents. With nearly two decades at Barnes & Thornburg, Joshua has established a national practice, handling more than 30 patent litigation matters across multiple U.S. District Courts, including the Southern District of Indiana, District of Delaware, District of Connecticut, District of Massachusetts, District of Rhode Island, Eastern District of Virginia, Central and Northern Districts of California, and all four Texas Districts, as well as before the International Trade Commission. He is known for his hands-on approach, having personally managed each stage of these complex matters.

In the past decade, Joshua has developed substantial expertise representing clients in administrative proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He has served as lead counsel in the majority of over 40 Inter Partes Reviews (IPRs), including a precedent-setting case in which the PTAB upheld the patentability of a design patent claim in its final written decisions—the first such outcome for a design patent claim (IPR2015-01453 and IPR2016-00130).
