In the past decade, Joshua has developed substantial expertise representing clients in administrative proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He has served as lead counsel in the majority of over 40 Inter Partes Reviews (IPRs), including a precedent-setting case in which the PTAB upheld the patentability of a design patent claim in its final written decisions—the first such outcome for a design patent claim (IPR2015-01453 and IPR2016-00130).
Joshua's practice also extends to appellate advocacy, where he has represented clients in 13 cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He is a trusted advisor on offensive and defensive patent strategies and frequently provides formal written opinions on complex patent matters. Demonstrating his commitment to public service, Joshua also represents veterans on a pro bono basis in appeals related to denials of disability benefits and serves on the Board of Directors for local non-profit New Hope of Indiana.
