Joe frequently counsels on technology and intellectual property licensing, venture and institutional financing rounds, governance matters and employment and real estate issues.
In addition to his outside general counsel work, Joe represents venture capital firms and high net worth individuals that invest in high-growth companies. Well-versed in negotiating a wide range of financing transactions, Joe focuses on helping his clients get deals done quickly and with an eye on market norms.
Joe is active in the Ann Arbor startup scene and regularly presents to student groups, local startup groups, and University of Michigan classes on legal issues facing high-growth companies and entrepreneurs.
Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Joe was a corporate, securities and intellectual property attorney in Ann Arbor for a large Michigan law firm. Before entering law school, Joe worked for a business consulting company as an information technology consultant in Washington, D.C.
