OVERVIEW

Jose Pomposo Barajas, a proud Chicano and native Angeleno, brings his business and finance clients a unique and sophisticated perspective colored by his uncommon life experience.

Unwavering in his dedication to his clients, Jose knows the value of learning and understanding their unique challenges, and provides tailored guidance and representation primarily in the areas of complex commercial litigation, Chapter 11, Subchapter V bankruptcies for small businesses, and general creditors’ rights, as well as assisting with multi-million dollar commercial real estate purchase and sale transactions.

Jose’s experience includes representing a large national manufacturer-creditor in a $1 million controversy, successfully obtaining a nearly $1 million writ of attachment against the entity and guarantor defendants. He also served as the junior member of a trial team in a complex multi-state enforcement of judgment action, assisting with law and motion practice, including drafting pre-trial pleadings and assisting in the mock trial process.

He has assisted in trial preparation in various complex and general business litigation matters, including a multi-million dollar enforcement of judgment action, battled over many state lines.

With respect to commercial real estate, Jose regularly assists with drafting commercial and industrial property leases, purchase and sale agreements, as well as more unique forms of ownership, including membership interest purchase agreements. He also helps with the formation of deal-specific business entities and reorganization of existing entities, crafting organizational documents and coordinating with title companies to close commercial real estate deals.

Jose is the child of immigrants from Puebla and Jalisco, Mexico, who speaks Spanish fluently and spent years overseeing his family’s landscape construction company in the Westside of Los Angeles before attending law school.

This work and life experience – in one of the world’s largest and most culturally-diverse cities – combined with the multiple semesters he spent expanding his horizons by studying abroad during his undergraduate years at Lund University in Sweden, and during law school at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark, provides him with the ability to work seamlessly with clients with varied backgrounds from all over the country and the world.
