Jessica R. Stephan is an associate in Barnes & Thornburg’s Corporate Department, where she focuses her practice on tax controversy and litigation. She represents partnerships, corporations, and individuals in federal and state tax disputes, with experience before the IRS, U.S. Tax Court, and federal appellate courts.
Jessica represents a wide range of clients—from partnerships and corporations to individual taxpayers—in disputes with the IRS throughout the audit and administrative appeals process, as well as before the U.S. Tax Court. She also advises clients in matters before U.S. district courts and federal courts of appeal. Her practice encompasses cases involving conservation easements, tax credits, international tax issues, disallowed business deductions, and multimillion-dollar civil fraud penalties, positioning her to counsel clients at every stage of a tax dispute from early audit defense through federal appellate review.
