Jared's practice focuses on incidents when a business relationship or a regulator's inquiry turns adversarial. He represents healthcare providers and businesses facing qui tam whistleblower and government-initiated False Claims Act actions, responds to civil investigative demands, subpoenas, and agency investigations, and litigates the commercial disputes that arise between healthcare organizations and their contracting partners. Clients rely on him for a practical read of exposure and a clear path to resolution, whether that means an early negotiated outcome or a defense built for trial.

Beyond healthcare, Jared maintains an active general commercial litigation practice, appearing for both plaintiffs and defendants in contractual disputes and personal and business tort actions. He also litigates state and federal constitutional claims on behalf of private parties and government entities — an area he has handled alongside civil rights and elections-related matters. Before joining Barnes & Thornburg, he was an associate at an international law firm.

Jared brings an unusually direct view of how courts and investigators work. He clerked for two justices of the Supreme Court of North Carolina — Chief Justice Mark Martin and Associate Justice Barbara Jackson — and served in the North Carolina Judicial Fellowship, assisting trial court judges with research and drafting in complex civil and constitutional cases. Earlier in his career, he was a special agent investigator with a federal agency, leading internal investigations and training extensively in investigative strategy and interviewing techniques. That experience informs how he builds a record, tests witnesses, and anticipates the government's next move.
