Jared Applegate is the Chief Legal Operations Officer of Barnes & Thornburg. He works with firm leadership and the firm’s largest clients to improve how legal work is priced, managed, and delivered, while supporting the firm’s broader strategy. Jared partners directly with senior executives and legal departments to bring structure and clarity to outside counsel relationships. His work focuses on setting clear expectations around scope, cost, and execution, and helping legal departments manage change in a practical, results-driven way.
He leads the firm’s teams responsible for pricing, rates, legal project management, eDiscovery, sales, and client solutions, collaborating with more than 800 attorneys across the firm. He spends much of his time working directly with clients and firm partners on client efforts and high-stakes matters.
Under Jared’s leadership, the firm’s legal operations and pricing teams have received national and global recognition, including being named the nation’s Best Business Team by The American Lawyer and, most recently, one of the top pricing teams in the world by the True Value Partnering Institute.
