As Chief Legal Operations Officer for Barnes & Thornburg, Jared Applegate leverages over a decade of strategic leadership experience across key business functions, including business development, legal operations, pricing, practice management, and legal project management. Jared guides a dedicated team responsible for rates, pricing, legal project management (LPM), eDiscovery, and various other strategic initiatives, supporting the firm's more than 800 attorneys and legal professionals nationwide.
Jared is deeply committed to enhancing the delivery of legal services through innovative strategies that create predictability, transparency, and measurable value. He partners closely with the firm's largest clients to structure, assess, and implement transformative solutions for their Legal Department operations, a role he finds deeply fulfilling and professionally rewarding.
Under Jared's leadership, the firm's Legal Operations team, previously branded as BT ValueWorks, has earned significant industry recognition. The team's pioneering efforts have been featured in Forbes, Bloomberg, The American Lawyer, Law.com, The National Law Journal, New York Law Journal, Corporate Counsel Business Journal, and numerous other publications. Notably, the American Lawyer TALIA awards honored the team as the nation’s Best Business Team among AmLaw firms in 2021. As an internationally recognized speaker on legal pricing, innovation, and client development, Jared regularly shares insights at industry-leading conferences and professional events. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Franklin College and actively serves in leadership roles within several prominent organizations. Jared is also an engaged member of the True Value Partnering Institute and a certified ALPP (accredited legal pricing professional) and contributes thought leadership through the Legal Value Network Council of Luminaries.
