Brad Micsky is a partner in Barnes & Thornburg’s Intellectual Property Department, where he concentrates his practice on patent litigation and counseling for technology companies across the semiconductor, telecommunications, and software industries. Drawing on extensive in-house and law firm experience, Brad brings a practical, business-minded perspective to complex IP matters that consistently adds value for his clients.

Brad advises clients on all aspects of patent litigation and IP counseling, representing clients in infringement actions in federal court, before the U.S. International Trade Commission, and in inter partes reviews before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He counsels clients on patent licensing and joint ventures, IP portfolio development, non-infringement and invalidity opinions, open-source software compliance, and strategies for leveraging IP assets to advance their business objectives. His technical experience spans semiconductors, mobile communications and networking, internet of things (IoT), micro-electronic devices, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, video analytics, telecommunications standards, and software.

Brad previously served as assistant general counsel for Honeywell’s $4.5 billion security business unit, where he held responsibility for worldwide intellectual property matters. In that role, he worked closely with corporate leadership on all IP issues affecting the business, supervised patent litigation globally, negotiated contracts and licenses, managed a worldwide portfolio of approximately 700 patents, and partnered with product development teams to identify and protect new innovations. That in-house experience gives Brad a distinctive perspective on client priorities and expectations, making him a trusted and effective partner in both litigation and strategic IP planning.
