OVERVIEW

Drawing on his extensive scientific background, Andrew Rejent advises on virtually all aspects of patent prosecution in the mechanical, electromechanical, and software arts. He is relied upon by clients across the globe to manage their patent portfolios and develop successful prosecution strategies for U.S. and Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) filings.

Andrew also advises on securing patent grants in foreign jurisdictions, including China, Europe and Japan. In addition he assists clients with patentability searches, product clearance and freedom to operate analysis, IP due diligence, and infringement and validity opinions. 

His practice focuses on identifying and protecting inventions across a wide spectrum of industries and technologies, including aerospace, jet engines and aircraft design; automotive engines and control systems; cryogenics; solar, wind, geothermal and nuclear energy systems; medical devices, such as injectors and surgical implants; machine learning; oil and gas; optics and imaging; robotics; and sports and exercise equipment.

Before studying law, Andrew was a research assistant at the University of Cincinnati, where he developed noise reduction technologies for use on commercial and military jet engines. He designed and implemented an experimental model at the university’s Aeroacoustic Test Facility to study the fluid and acoustic effects generated by the asymmetries in a jet engine’s exhaust flow. His master's thesis, “Experimental Study of the Flow and Acoustic Characteristics of a High-Bypass Coaxial Nozzle with Pylon Bifurcations,” validated his experimental model against large-scale testing facilities at NASA, GE, and Boeing.
