Ariyike Diggs: I Am Barnes & Thornburg

I AM...

  • A triple citizen of the United States, United Kingdom, and Nigeria. Let’s just say I like having options.
  • Yoruba, and “Ariyike” means “We have this to cherish”
  • A dancing queen who met Isaac Dudley Diggs – the love of her life – on the dance floor on his 21st birthday…and we’ve been dancing ever since, with no plans to stop
  • Utterly smitten with our gorgeous, funny, infuriating teenage son, Caleb James Oluloshe Diggs. “Oluloshe” is Yoruba for “God has done this.”
  • One of three, and blessed to be the eldest child of the most loving mother in the universe. Yes, I’m her favorite (no matter what the other two brats say).
  • A professionally trained actor who studied with the incredible Oscar/Tony/Golden Globe-winning director Mike Nichols (RIP)
  • Fiercely loyal to, and protective of, those I care about – and there are many (and counting)
  • An optimist. I count my blessings every day. My glass is never half empty. In fact, my cup runneth over.
  • Transformed by the practice of yoga. I can’t imagine life without it, or my wardrobe without yoga pants.
  • On occasion, a real potty-mouth (don’t tell my son)

This profile appeared in the March 2021 edition of I Am Barnes & Thornburg.
