Robyn Maguire Named Boston Office Managing Partner

Robyn Maguire

BOSTON (Jan. 26, 2026) — Leading trial attorney Robyn Maguire has been appointed as managing partner of Barnes & Thornburg’s Boston office. She succeeds David Allen, who is stepping down from office leadership to focus on firmwide projects.

“Robyn’s highly regarded work representing some of the country’s foremost drug and medical device companies — coupled with her forward-thinking mindset and impressive management experience — makes her an ideal fit to lead the firm’s outpost in The Hub,” said Andrew Detherage, Barnes & Thornburg’s firm managing partner. “As AI-driven innovation and a resurgence in M&A activity breathe new life into the city's already vibrant life sciences ecosystem, we’re confident that Robyn will help take our growing Boston office to the next level.”

“David has provided outstanding leadership and stewardship of the Boston office since its opening in 2021,” Detherage continued. “We are grateful for David’s dedication and many contributions.”

Maguire, who joined the firm in 2021, is one of the founding members of the Boston office, which now has a total of 25 lawyers and business professionals. Together, the group brings decades of experience in intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, and litigation to serve leading biomedical, pharmaceutical, medical device, and high-tech clients.

“Our first-class attorneys truly understand the needs of Boston’s thriving business community, be it established companies, high-growth startups, or preeminent research universities,” said Maguire. “I have enjoyed playing a role in the firm’s burgeoning growth in the city — and look forward to collaborating with our team to continue the momentum in the years to come.”

Maguire represents pharmaceutical, medical device, and consumer product manufacturers, distributors and retailers in mass tort and product liability litigation. In addition to her new office leadership role, she will also continue as co-chair of the firm’s Drug and Medical Device Litigation practice.

Outside her legal practice, Maguire is actively involved in local pro bono, civic and charitable initiatives. She currently serves on the board and executive committee of Lawyers for Civil Rights in Boston and is chair of the town of Hingham Zoning Board of Appeals.
