Barnes & Thornburg Welcomes IP Litigator Bradley Micsky in Minneapolis
Patent litigation and counseling veteran deepens firm’s IP platform in Midwest

Micsky brings a rare combination of sophisticated IP law experience and deep technical capabilities to his practice. He represents telecommunications, semiconductor and technology companies in patent litigation and IP counseling matters.
“Brad is exactly the kind of attorney who makes our IP practice stronger in every respect — technically grounded, deeply experienced in litigation, and a seasoned counselor who understands what clients actually need when it comes to the intersection of business issues and intellectual property," said Intellectual Property Department Chair Scott Simmonds. "His background spanning in-house leadership, complex patent litigation, and counseling across some of the most dynamic technology sectors makes him an outstanding addition to our team and a tremendous resource for clients.”
Micsky’s work encompasses patent litigation defense and enforcement in federal courts, before the U.S. International Trade Commission, and in inter partes reviews before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He also advises clients on patent licensing and joint ventures, IP portfolio development, infringement and validity opinions, open-source software matters, and strategies for leveraging intellectual property to advance broader business objectives.
Micsky joins from an Am Law 200 firm. He also has significant in-house experience as assistant general counsel for a multinational tech company. In that role, he was responsible for worldwide intellectual property matters in a multibillion-dollar business unit, working closely with corporate leadership on all IP issues, supervising IP litigation, negotiating contracts and licenses, and managing a global portfolio of several hundred patents.
“We are delighted to add Brad and his IP capabilities to our Minneapolis office," said Connie Lahn, managing partner of Barnes & Thornburg's Minneapolis office. "He is deeply embedded in the Minnesota technology and business community, and his combination of technical depth, litigation acumen, and in-house experience is precisely what our clients in this market are looking for.
Micsky holds a B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University and earned his J.D., cum laude, from Boston University School of Law. He has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America for Litigation — Intellectual Property in both 2025 and 2026.
“Barnes & Thornburg has built something exceptional — a practice that combines the resources of a national Am Law 100 firm with the client-focused, business-minded approach that I have always believed makes the best IP counsel,” said Micsky. “I look forward to contributing to the continued growth of the Minneapolis office and the IP Department."
