BT Continues Lateral Investments, Names Ex-In-House Counsel to Chief Onboarding and Integration Officer Role

As the chief onboarding and integration officer based in the Nashville office, Landry will work closely with firm leadership and fellow C-suite members, drawing on her 25 years of industry experience in both law firms and corporations, including her most recent assistant general counsel role with Nissan Group of the Americas, directing the Product Safety and Regulatory legal team.
A graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, Landry spent more than a decade at an Am Law 200 national firm litigating product and healthcare liability matters. Then she went in-house for 10 years in the manufacturing and automotive sectors, handling a broad scope of responsibilities — including class actions, product liability, health and safety, environmental, employment, employee benefits, antitrust, trade, cybersecurity and privacy. Taken together, Landry’s professional background gives her a distinct and informed perspective on integration of lateral expertise into a varied ecosystem of experience and industry.
She succeeds Debby Usher, who has retired after more than 24 years with the firm. Landry will collaborate with professionals across firm’s 26 offices to ensure a smooth, strategic onboarding process and meaningful integration for lateral attorneys. Landry joins the firm during an extraordinary lateral hiring spree. Since January, the firm has added over 100 lawyers and opened three new offices.
“Emily possesses an attractive combination of legal industry acumen, operational insight and deep people skills — qualities that will be invaluable to new lateral partners as we continue our strategic growth in vital markets,” Firm Managing Partner Andrew J. Detherage said. “She will play an essential role in ensuring our integration efforts are thoughtful, efficient and aligned with our culture and values.”
As she crafts laterals’ integration plans, Landry will shepherd new partners from their courtship stage with Chief Legal Recruiting Officer Jesse Reeves to making Barnes & Thornburg their new professional home. She will collaborate with the firm’s client development team to identify cross-practice synergies and will help new partners accelerate internal networking and establish client relationships.
“I’m excited to join Barnes & Thornburg at a moment of such strong momentum,” Landry said. “I look forward to helping new lateral attorneys integrate into the firm’s energizing and collaborative culture.”
