BT Foundation Awards $250K in Grants to Five Nonprofits

The BT Foundation has awarded $250,000 to five organizations in cities where the firm has a presence to bring meaningful change to their communities. Each organization will receive a $50,000 grant. Barnes & Thornburg lawyers and business professionals raised the funding during 2025.

Since its establishment in 2020, BT Foundation has remained committed to ensuring that Barnes & Thornburg is a good citizen to the communities in which we live, work and serve by supporting non-profit organizations in these communities that help ensure access to resources and opportunities for all. Meet our 2025 grant recipients:

New York: EVLovesNYC is a nonprofit mutual aid, partnering with more than 75 community organizations to provide food and services to economically insecure New Yorkers. Additionally, EVLovesNYC runs a workforce training program offering paid employment and career development for asylum seekers. The grant will fund wages for 13 training participants and a kitchen manager, ensuring program stability and direct expansion of EVLovesNY’s outreach and mission.

Indianapolis: Jane Pauley Community Health Center Foundation (JPCHCF) is a nonprofit providing accessible, respectful and integrated healthcare to all regardless of insurance status. For more than 16 years, JPCHCF has focused on improving health outcomes in underserved communities across Central Indiana. Responding to a surge in newborn and maternal care needs and to address elevated rates of infant mortality and injury, JPCHCF plans to use the grant for child and maternal safety, including distribution of car seats, safe sleep equipment and medical transportation for new mothers.

Dallas: Project XVI is a nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of youths in at-risk communities through education, exposure and mental well-being. Project XVI’s goal is to equip these young individuals with essential life skills and nurture their personal growth and resilience. They are also committed to fostering mental health by offering free and accessible counseling services, ensuring that each child can thrive emotionally and mentally. Serving students facing poverty and trauma, Project XVI will use the grant to deliver mental health counseling and monthly life-skills workshops.

Los Angeles: College Access Plan (CAP) is an independent nonprofit that prepares underserved and underrepresented students to succeed in college. Through partnerships with area school districts and local agencies, CAP provides no-cost college readiness advising and topic-specific workshops for middle and high school students, their families and college-bound graduates. The grant will enable CAP to provide trauma-informed, college readiness support for over 1,500 Pasadena Unified School District students and families affected by the Eaton fire, helping them access one-on-one guidance, peer advocacy and crucial resources to continue their path to post-secondary success.

Washington, D.C.: Sasha Bruce Youthwork (SBY) is a nonprofit dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness for young people in the Washington, D.C. area. SBY aims to achieve this by providing safe havens and stable housing, equipping young people with essential life skills and educational opportunities, strengthening families and fostering healthy relationships, and building resilience to overcome challenges and navigate difficult life circumstances. The grant will provide critical bridge funding to SBY’s Drop-In Center, ensuring core staffing and essential daily services — like meals, showers and laundry — continue for Washington, D.C. youth facing homelessness. This support will stabilize operations, sustain housing and employment pathways, and preserve a trusted, low-barrier safe space for hundreds of vulnerable young people.
