Koch Industries has named Barnes & Thornburg its Pro Bono Partner of the Year. The inaugural award was presented personally by Charles Koch, chairman and CEO of Koch Industries, at the first annual Koch Awards event on November 11, 2021. The award ceremony honored individuals and organizations that have committed to partnering with Koch to help remove barriers, restore lives, provide second chances, and strengthen communities.

In Koch’s newsletter, Discovery, its general counsel called Barnes & Thornburg’s pro bono commitment “both encouraging and inspirational.” In 2020, the firm pledged to dedicate 10,000 hours of pro bono time over the next three years in partnership with Koch to support scores of nonprofit organizations via Stand Together, a philanthropic community founded by Charles Koch.

The firm’s commitment, which includes all 20 offices and every legal department, was led by firm partner Jim Leonard, with the assistance of Pro Bono Committee chair, John Maley.

With more than 700 attorneys and other legal professionals, Barnes & Thornburg is one of the largest law firms in the country. The firm serves clients worldwide from offices in Atlanta, Boston, California, Chicago, Delaware, Indiana, Michigan, Minneapolis, New York, Ohio, Raleigh, Salt Lake City, Texas and Washington, D.C.
