RALEIGH – Barnes & Thornburg announced today that it has relocated its Raleigh office to the CAPTRUST Tower at 4208 Six Forks Road, Suite 1010. The move – to a larger and more permanent space – is an integral part of the firm’s plan to expand its presence in the Triangle market and Carolinas region.
CAPTRUST Tower is located in the heart of the burgeoning innovation hub of North Hills. The new office space is 7,800 square feet and will accommodate both attorneys and support staff. The firm has an option to renew the lease after seven years.
Barnes & Thornburg opened the Raleigh office in a temporary location in December 2019 with 10 employees – five lawyers and five legal professionals – who all practice in the life sciences. The firm’s strategic objective for the Raleigh office was to start with this core group of IP and life sciences attorneys and, over the next several years, expand to 20 or more attorneys in various strategic practice areas.
“The new space is designed to accommodate our growth –and cements the firm as a destination for the region’s premier legal talent,” said Allen Baum, partner-in-charge of the Raleigh office. “We look forward to building out new offerings and serving clients here for years to come.”
The new space offers an efficient floor plan and flexible office configuration. It will also provide several safety measures, including higher partitions, more generous spacing for workstations, “ionization” or other HVAC controls to kill pathogens, and larger meeting and gathering areas to allow for social distancing.
Jones Lang LaSalle brokered the deal with landlord Kane Realty.
With more than 700 attorneys and other legal professionals, Barnes & Thornburg is one of the largest law firms in the country. The firm serves clients worldwide from offices in Atlanta, California, Chicago, Delaware, Indiana, Michigan, Minneapolis, New York, Ohio, Raleigh, Salt Lake City, Texas and Washington, D.C.
