Joint Employer and General Labor and Employment Issues

Marlén Cortez Morris and Bill McErlean of the Chicago office co-authored a chapter in Lexology’s April 2019 edition of “Getting the Deal Through - Franchise Practice Guide.” Their chapter, “Joint Employer and General Labor and Employment Issues,” addressed the threat of joint employer liability that both franchisors and franchisees are facing nationally and internationally. Marlén and Bill discussed the evolution of the legal landscape in this area and what those in the franchise industry must be aware of to mitigate joint employer exposure. They also offered practical measures that can be taken to navigate this murky area.
