MINNEAPOLIS – Barnes & Thornburg is pleased to announce that partner Christopher Fowlkes has been selected as one of Minnesota Lawyer’s Diversity and Inclusion Award honorees for 2019. The award recognizes attorneys who have made significant contributions to diversity and inclusion in the practice of law in their organizations and the greater Minnesota community.
“As an office we pride ourselves on being an inclusive community for diversity, but this would not be possible without the support from teammates like Chris,” said Connie Lahn, managing partner of the Minneapolis office. “He is dedicated to advancing diversity efforts in the legal community and has made a true impact in that effort at our firm and throughout Minnesota.”
Fowlkes has shown a commitment to fostering a pipeline of successful programming aimed at recruiting diverse candidates into large law firms in the Twin Cities. Throughout his legal career, Fowlkes has directly hired or aided in the hiring of numerous diverse individuals and has served as a mentor to these individuals. At Barnes & Thornburg, he is building out a strategy to expand national recruiting efforts of diverse candidates and led the charge in ensuring that the firm, its attorneys and staff were involved in the Minnesota Minority Recruitment Conference (MMRC), which brings in students of color from across the country to interview at Minnesota firms and corporations.
Fowlkes is a commercial litigation partner and focuses his practice on product liability, multiparty complex commercial litigation and national defense development. He represents Global 500 companies in matters involving personal injury and property damage, defective designs or manufacture of consumers products, shareholder disputes and noncompete agreements. He also develops national litigation and discovery strategies for his clients.
Fowlkes will be honored at a reception hosted by Minnesota Lawyer on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019, at the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
