New Attorneys Join Barnes & Thornburg’s Columbus, Dallas, Chicago and South Bend Offices

Barnes & Thornburg LLP has added new attorneys to its Columbus, Dallas, Chicago and South Bend offices:

Christopher S. Baxter, a staff attorney in the Columbus office, is a member of the Finance, Insolvency and Restructuring Department. Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, he gained experience as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Charles M. Caldwell of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Ohio. Baxter earned his J.D. from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University and his B.S. from Youngstown State University.

Michael H. Borofsky is a litigation associate in the Dallas office of Barnes & Thornburg. Borofsky represents clients in a variety of commercial litigation matters, including fraud, breach of contract, theft of trade secrets, tortious interference, copyright and trademark infringement, products liability, privacy rights, antitrust, and other complex matters. In 2016, Borofsky earned his J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law. He earned his B.S. in 2011 from Florida State University, where he combined studies in economics and physics to focus on sustainable energy technologies.

Jodie Distler is of counsel in the Corporate Department. Practicing out of the firm’s Chicago office, Distler focuses her practice on estate planning, wealth management and succession planning. On behalf of high net worth clients, she prepares wealth management and transfer documents, including revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, split-interest trusts, and powers of attorney. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2003. Distler earned a B.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1999.

Peter D. Hamann, an associate in the South Bend office, is a member of the Litigation Department. Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, he was law clerk for the Honorable James T. Moody in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana. In addition to clerking, Hamann’s experience includes handling criminal defense cases at a non-profit legal aid organization in Chicago. In 2013, he earned his J.D., cum laude, from the Northwestern University School of Law. Hamann earned his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 2008.
