INDIANAPOLIS – Every industry or company is prone to a potential data breach. Barnes & Thornburg LLP has teamed with Rook Security, Cloud One, Consolidated Data Services and the Indiana State Police to conduct an interactive workshop designed to educate attendees on best practices for responding to a data breach and minimizing the damage to their businesses. Presenters will also provide practical advice that companies can use now to prepare their businesses for a potential breach.
The event will be held on May 21 at Barnes & Thornburg’s Indianapolis office. Breakfast begins at 8 a.m. The workshop begins at 8:30 a.m. and runs until 11 a.m.

Presenters of the workshop will engage the audience in a real-world data breach scenario, demonstrating what happens when a security incident hits, the processes for responding to a data breach, how best to minimize liability and impact, and how to mitigate the risk and cost of the inevitable data breach through strategies such as maintaining targeted cyber insurance policies.
Attendees will learn about the state and federal statutory and regulatory requirements that govern the use, collection and retention of particular types of information, as well as notification requirements when a data breach occurs. Best practices of a comprehensive risk management process will also be covered so attendees are prepared to handle a potential data breach or cybersecurity incident.
