Barnes & Thornburg Software Developer Client Obtains $24.8 Million Verdict Against Lockheed Martin

INDIANAPOLIS – Barnes & Thornburg client, Command Technology, Inc., a Connecticut-based software development firm, has won a $24.8 million verdict against Lockheed Martin Corporation, the world’s largest defense contractor.

A jury in Lockheed Martin’s home county of Montgomery County, Md., reached the verdict on Nov. 25 after a week-long trial. The jury found that Lockheed Martin intentionally interfered with the deployment of software that Command Technology had developed to help maintain the United States Air Force’s (USAF) F-16 Fighting Falcon jet in 24 nations who are American allies. Additionally, the jury found that Lockheed Martin had competed unfairly in seeking to deploy its own rival software to the USAF and U.S. allies. The jury found Lockheed Martin’s actions to involve intentional misconduct and awarded damages for lost revenues and profits.

Command Technology was represented by Matthew Barr, Alex Orlowski and Jessica Lindemann of Barnes & Thornburg’s Indianapolis office.

With more than 600 attorneys and other legal professionals, Barnes & Thornburg is one of the largest law firms in the country. The firm serves clients worldwide from its offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Delaware, Indiana, Los Angeles, Michigan, Minneapolis, Ohio, and Washington, D.C.
