John Kelly and Tony Burba spoke on panels at American Health Law Association’s Advising Providers: Legal Strategies for AMCs, Physicians, and Hospitals program at The Sheraton in New Orleans. John’s panel, “Private Equity: Be careful, It Ain’t Private Anymore,” focused on government enforcement and compliance risks associated with the ongoing interest private equity has investing in the healthcare industry. Tony’s panel, “Managing 2024’s Top Compliance Risks and Opportunities,” discussed different perspectives on new and developing compliance security risks, as well as a variety of enforcement actions and what tools can be used to mitigate these threats. Tony’s panel included Henry Leventis, the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee, and Ted Lotchin, chief compliance officer for UNC Health.
