Despite recent efforts at patent reform, the US patent system is far from finding the ideal balance between protection and enforcement of patent rights. Part of the struggle stems from differences between the IT and the life science sectors with some key recent judicial decisions invalidating some life science patents. Meaningful reform will mean finding ways for these two groups to balance their needs and provide the intellectual property protections that will allow both sectors to grow securely. To help further that process, new tools are being developed to help protect companies whose value is closely tied to their intellectual property and these may play an increasingly important role in company development and valuation going forward. Please join us as we discuss the forces driving the patent conversation and explore how some of the new tools may help you better protect and manage your intellectual property.
