Bill Nolan of the Columbus office had two speaking engagements in Columbus on March 19. He began the day presenting an interactive session on HR’s place in a business organization to a group of HR professional at the Employers Resource Association annual legal update. Kelly Atkinson and Doug Oldham of the office participated in the role-play scenarios that drove the discussion, with Kelly acting as an overly bureaucratic HR manager and Doug as the slightly clueless sales executive (neither role reflecting their real life personalities). Over lunch, Bill was part of a panel with the regional director of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service and a union lawyer, speaking to the Central Ohio Labor and Employment Relations Association about proposals relating to worker classification in the gig economy.
