The new Defend Trade Secrets Act of 2016, passed by Congress in April and signed into law May 11 by the President, allows for the first time a trade secret owner to bring civil suit in federal court. The Act has strong provisions protecting trade secrets related to a product or service used in interstate or foreign commerce.
