The U.S. Trade Representative’s (USTR) office has issued a proposal to impose up to an additional 25% tariff on another $300 billion worth of trade from China. The proposed list (List 4) would encompass virtually all goods from China that have not yet been subject to the Section 301 tariffs, including consumer items such as food, apparel, diapers, televisions and electronics.

This announcement follows quickly on the heels of USTR’s May 10 increase of tariffs from 10% to 25% on List 3 items.

Interested parties will have until June 10, 2019, to request an opportunity to participate in public hearings before the Section 301 committee, which will begin on June 17, 2019.

Interested parties, whether participating in the hearings or not, may also submit written comments for USTR’s consideration. Written comments must be filed by June 17, 2019.
