Sporos Capital Partners, a private investment firm focused on emerging industries, identified high-impact opportunities to expand its portfolio in the nuclear energy and space infrastructure sectors. To complete the transactions, Sporos Capital leaned on Barnes & Thornburg’s deep sector knowledge and business-focused legal counsel to invest in two transformative companies: Quantum Space, LLC, a trailblazer in space infrastructure, and X-Energy Reactor Company LLC, a leader in advanced nuclear reactor and fuel technology. Finalized in March 2025, the deals position Sporos Capital to help power the next generation of energy and aerospace solutions.

As Sporos Capital continued expanding its presence in emerging industries, two sectors stood out: space infrastructure and nuclear energy. Both are poised for significant growth and global impact. The space economy is projected to reach $1.8 trillion by 2035, growing at nearly 9% annually.  Meanwhile, nuclear power currently generates about 9% of the world’s electricity, with demand rising as countries seek more sustainable energy sources. 

Investing in these sectors meant navigating complex regulatory frameworks, long development horizons, and rapidly evolving technologies — requiring legal counsel that could balance speed, precision, and strategic alignment.

Sporos Capital turned to Barnes & Thornburg for sharp and tailored guidance on financing and executing the transactions — critical to advancing its investment strategy focused on innovation, impact, and emerging industries.

Completed in March 2025, the investments marked an important expansion of Sporos Capital’s portfolio. The investments also bolstered the companies’ balance sheets, allowing Quantum and X-Energy to continue accelerating innovation to meet the evolving energy and infrastructure needs of the 21st century in their respective sectors.
